Shack Raid-ZL2JC'S

Shack Raid

Saturday the 9th of April

3 important points from the detail below are:

  • Bring your NZART Call book

  • Listen on 7125 for the Raid Master ZL2KO for instructions at 3:30pm Saturday,  if you do not have access to the 7125 repeater in your car maybe hitch a ride with someone who does

  • Meet at Memorial Park, Main Street at 3.15pm

What is it?

Our next shack raid  will be an afternoon event involving:

  • Family and friends

  • Driving to new locations - make sure you listen on the 7125 repeater and bring your call book

  • Putting faces to voices we only hear on the air

  • Seeing where hams live and what their station entails

  • See first hand the fascinating things others do with the hobby

  • Meeting family member's of those we speak to on the air

  • Food

  • Because it is more of a social event and not a radio event it should be a good afternoon out for the whole family (neighbours maybe)

  • Assist with the hosts project possibly – e.g. Antenna erection.

When

  • Our next 'Shack Raid' will be held in the Manawatu on Saturday the 9th of April
  • Departure time for those in Palmerston North will be 3.15 pm from Memorial Park on Main Street - with the Raid Master (ZL2KO) on 7125 repeater – listen for check-in information and instructions.
  • Location is set and will be advised on the afternoon (there is some mystery)
  • Expect to be home later Saturday Evening

Who

  • The event is open to those who want to come, those that need transport can be allocated a seat and picked as the event proceeds

  • Bring Wives, girl friends (boyfriends, husbands), kids, neighbours – it is a family party more so than just a radio event

  • Invite hams who are new to the area

  • Anyone who wants to come along - come have some fun and meet us
  • Prospective new members and new hams

  • Those we have not seen or heard from for a while

  • Those who seldom (never) get along to a Branch meetings or nets

  • Branch 20 (MARS) members

What

  • Bring your Call book and a pen
  • Make sure the 2 Metre transceiver is tuned up ready to go in the car if you are the driver - listen to 7125 repeater from 3:15pm

In all it went well with a good turn out of ZL2KO members, great time had by all.
