Yesterday we installed Warren ZL2FE's KiwiSDR at Jack ZL2JAK's place. Initial antenna was problematic so it is currently connected to a 80/40m fan dipole. It is now listed on the KiwiSDR public listings and there is a link to it on the club website and ZL WAN Dashboard Here is the link: http://kiwisdr.tko.zlwan.net:8073 No doubt we will make some improvements in time.
A quick hour at the club, a few jobs ticked off and the place looking good.
Monday night we snuck into Ashhurst, grabbed some dinner from the Fish and Chip shop across the street, and then set up for a cuppa at the hall. Cheryl ZL2VCC and Max ZL2MAX then gave us a run down on the history of the group, the show setup with the sound and lighting control. Very interesting night and cool to see the behind the scenes setup of the show.
Great evening out at Jack's place, certainly good to see what a dipole looks like in a straight line and not angled oddly for a small back section.
Great weekend had out at Kopane Schools Field.
Saturday 7th December saw the end of year get together for the Manawatu Amateur Radio Soc Christmas Beano at the RNZ Navalmans Club in Palmerston. As well as the great nosh-up that was had, there was presentations made and it was all finished off with a quiz made up of 30 questions, 20 general knowledge and 10 Amateur Radio related. Teams of 4 to 5 answered the questions in lots of 10 questions and then passed their answer sheet to another team for marking. Adam ZL2FOX was once again the M.C.and provided some entertainment along the way. I must be a lucky charm because I have been on the winning team 3 out of the last 4 years. Thanks for the winning teams chocolates Adam, they went down a treat. Allan ZL2SKY
Final afternoon gathering of the year.
